Ar Scoil

Ar Scoil At school:

Teacht agus Imeacht Coming and going

Baineann cuid mhaith daltaí úsáid as an bhus scoile. Iarrtar ort an tábhacht a bhaineann le dea-iompar ar na busanna a mheabhrú do do pháiste. Tabhair aire faoi leith, le do thoil, do na pointí seo a leanas:

A bheith in am don bhus ar maidin

Gan seasamh ar an bhus.

Gan ithe ná ól ar an bhus

Gan rudaí géara a iompar ach amháin sa mhála scoile

Treoracha an fheighlí a leanúint i gcónaí

Iarrtar ar thuismitheoirí a bheith poncúil ag bailiú leanaí ón bhus.

Many pupils use the school bus. You are asked to remind your child regularly of the importance of good behaviour on the bus. Please remind them regularly of the following points:

Be in time  for the bus

Do not stand or leave your place while the bus is moving

Do not eat or drink on the bus

Rulers and sharp objects such as pencils must be carried in the schoolbag

Do as the supervisor says

Parents are asked to be punctual when collecting children from the bus.

An lá scoile The School Day

Bíonn múinteoir i mbun na leanaí sa chlós gach maidin ó 8.40am ar aghaidh.  Níl bainistíocht na scoile freagrach as daltaí a bhíonn sa chlós roimh an am seo. Tosaíonn an lá scoile ar 8.50am. Bíonn sos gearr ag na leanaí ar 10.30am. Bíonn lón ann ó 12.30 go 1.00.

Ar na laethanta fliucha téann na leanaí díreach isteach i halla na scoile ar maidin agus fanann siad sna seomraí ag am lóin. Tá an clós súgartha roinnte ina dhá chuid: cuid amháin do na naíonáin agus Rang a hAon, agus an chuid eile do na daltaí móra.

Tá geata beag ar leith againn fá choinne coisithe. Tá cosc ar pháirceáil sa limistéar mairceáilte taobh amuigh den gheata.

Tá bac iomlán ar throid agus ar imirt gharbh sa chlós. Ní cheadaítear peil sa chlós ar eagla go rachadh an liathróid amach ar an bhóthar go furasta. Ceadaítear cispheil a imirt.

Téann na naíonáin abhaile ar 1.30pm, ach amháin i rith na chéad choicíse den scoil bhliain nuair a imíonn na Naíonáin Bheaga ar mheán lae. Imíonn na ranganna eile ar 2.30pm.

Laethanta a mbeidh an scoil ag dúnadh níos luaithe, nó laethanta a mbeidh an scoil dúnta ar fad, cuirfear scéala abhaile roimh ré. Iarrtar ar thuismitheoirí an mála scoile a chuardach go rialta fá choinne litreacha.

Children are supervised each morning from 8.40am. School management is not responsible for the safety of children who are in the yard before this. Children go to the classrooms at 8.50am. We have a short break or sos at 10.30am.  Lunchtime is from 12.30 to 1.00.

On wet days, the pupils go directly to the school hall and they have their lunch-break in the classrooms. The playground is divided into two areas: one part for the Infants and First Class, and the other part for the bigger children.

We have a dedicated pedestrian gate for the children. Parking of cars is prohibited in the marked area outside the school gates. The gate will remain open except at playtime.

Fighting and rough play are totally banned in the schoolyard. Football is not allowed, as the ball would too easily go out on the road. Basketball is allowed.

Infant classes go home at 1.30pm, except during the first fortnight of the school year when the Junior Infants go home at noon. All other classes finish at 2.30pm.

In the case of a half-day or a free day, notice will be given in writing in advance. Parents are asked to check the school bags regularly for letters from the school.

I  gCás Timpiste In case of Accident

Chomh maith leis an liosta uimhreacha gutháin atá ar comhad againn sa scoil, tá liosta d’uimhreacha speisialta againn a mbainimid úsáid astu i gcás na héigeandála. Iarrtar ort an dara nó an tríú huimhir a chur isteach chugainn.

I gcás timpiste nó tinnis, déanann an múinteoir nó an Príomhoide cinneadh cé acu an mion ghortú atá i gceist nó ar chóir fios a chur ar thuismitheoir. Tá baill na foirne sásta agus ábalta an gnáth-ghoin a ghlanadh agus bindealán a chur air. Sa chás go bhfuil níos mó ná sin i gceist, cuirfear fios ar an tuismitheoir.

In addition to the normal list of home telephone numbers that we have on file in the school, we have a list of emergency numbers where a parent or a near relative can be contacted in case of emergency. You are urged to supply us with a second or third number for this file.

In the case of accident or sickness, the teacher or Principal will normally determine whether we can deal with it ourselves or whether a parent should be contacted. Members of the staff are willing and able to clean and dress cuts and scratches. If we are concerned about the pupil, the parent will be contacted.

Glantacht agus Néatacht Cleanliness and Neatness

Bítear ag súil le caighdeán ard glantachta pearsanta ó na daltaí. Bítear ag súil fosta go gcaithfidh gach páiste an chulaith scoile, atá ar fáil ón scoil, agus t-léine bhán.

Má tá do pháistí tinn ní cóir dó/di bheith ar scoil. Bí cinnte, le do thoil, go bhfuil an nós cothaithe i do leanbh na lámha a ní tar éis dul chuig an leithreas.

A high standard of personal cleanliness is expected from every child. It is also expected that every child will wear the school tracksuit, which is available from the Gaelscoil, and a plain white polo shirt or t-shirt.

If your child is ill he/she should not attend school. Please ensure that your child is in the habit of washing hands after going to the toilet.

Tuismitheoirí agus Múinteoirí Parents and Teachers

Beifear ag súil le teachtaireacht i scríbhinn i ngach cás acu seo a leanas:

Páiste as láthair

Obair bhaile gan a bheith déanta

Páiste ag imeacht luath ón scoil

Culaith scoile gan a bheith á caitheamh

Páiste ag teacht ar scoil mall

Má tá a fhios agat go mbeidh do leanbh as láthair, cuir fios ar an mhúinteoir roimh ré, le do thoil. Cinntigh go mbeidh do leanbh ar scoil in am ar maidin agus bailithe in am tráthnóna.

Bíonn cruinniú idir mhúinteoirí agus thuismitheoirí roimh Nollaig gach bliain. Is luachmhar an áis í seo agus molaimid do gach tuismitheoir leas a bhaint as an ócáid. Cuirfear teisteanna foirmeálta ar na leanaí ó Naí. Bheaga go Rang 6 gach bliain agus pléifear na torthaí ag an chruinniú seo.

Bíonn céad fáilte roimh thuismitheoirí sa scoil i gcónaí, ach iarraimid oraibh coinne a dhéanamh roimh ré. Má thagann athrú ar do sheoladh nó ar d’uimhir ghútháin, cuir sin in iúl don mhúinteoir gan mhoill, le do thoil.

A written communication is required in each of the following cases:

Absence from school

Non-completion of homework

Leaving  school early

Non-wearing  of school uniform

Children arriving late for school

If you know that your child is going to be absent from school, please inform the class teacher beforehand. Please ensure that your child arrives in time for school each morning and is collected in time in the afternoon.

Parent-Teacher meetings are held each year before Christmas. These occasions are very valuable for teacher, for parent and for pupil. We urge you to avail of this opportunity to meet your child’s teacher. Standardised tests will be given to the children from Naí. Bheaga to Rang 6 each year and the results will be discussed at these meetings.

Parents are always welcome in the school, but we ask you to make an appointment if you wish to meet a teacher. Please communicate any change of address or telephone number to the class teacher.

Iompar agus Smacht Behaviour and Discipline

Caithfidh múinteoirí agus tuismitheoirí obair as láimh a chéile chun dea-iompar agus smacht a chothú sna leanaí. Táimid ag súil go mbainfear leas ceart as teagmháil idir mhúinteoirí agus thuismitheoirí chun é seo a chur i gcrích. Cuimhnigh gur ortsa, an tuismitheoir, atá an dualgas do leanbh a smachtú, agus go bhfuil muidne ag brath ar do thacaíocht, do dhea-thoil agus do chomhoibriú.

Tá sé de bheannacht agus de bhua orainn go bhfuil spiorad iontach sa scoil, agus go bhfuil gaol ar leith idir daltaí agus foireann. Is mór linn an t-atmaisféar seo, agus tá sé d’aidhm dhocht dhaingean againn é a choinneáil agus a chothú.

Teachers and parents must work together to encourage a spirit of good behaviour in the school. It is hoped that proper use will be made of parent-teacher contact to achieve this. Remember that yours is the primary responsibility for the behaviour of your child, and that we are depending on your support, goodwill and co-operation.

We are blessed in Gaelscoil Míde, with a wonderful school spirit and a warm and easy relationship between teachers and pupils. It is our dear wish and our firm resolve to keep and to nourish this atmosphere. We ask you to play your part.

Obair Bhaile agus Tuairiscí Homework and School Report

Bíonn obair bhaile le déanamh ag daltaí uilig na scoile, seachas na Naíonáin Bheaga, ceithre lá sa tseachtain, de ghnáth. Ní thugtar obair bhaile ag an deireadh seachtaine de ghnáth. Beidh gnéithe scríofa agus foghlamtha ag baint leis an obair seo, agus táthar ag súil go bhféachfaidh tuismitheoirí chuige go ndéanfar é go díograsach agus go slachtmhar. Iarrtar ort an obair bhaile a shíniú gach oíche. Braithfidh fad agus deacracht na hoibre ar aois agus ar chumas an linbh. Cuirfear abhaile tuairisc scríofa ar gach dalta ag deireadh gach scoilbhliana. Is iad seo a leanas na treoirlínte ama do na ranganna éagsúla:

Naíonáin:                     15 nóiméad

Ranganna 1 – 2:                       30 – 40 nóiméad

Ranganna 3 – 6:                       45 – 60 nóiméad

All pupils, except junior infants, are normally expected to do homework four evenings each week. Homework is not usually given at weekends. The work will have a written and an oral content, and you are urged to ensure that it is done neatly and carefully. You are also expected to sign the homework. The length and level of difficulty of the work will depend on the age and ability of the child A written report on all children will be sent home at the end of each school year.

These are the recommended times for homework:

                   Naíonáin:                           15 minutes

                   Ranganna 1-2:                  30-40 minutes

                   Ranganna 3-6:                  45-60 minutes

Tá súil againn go leanfaidh na nósanna seo. Ullmhaítear na páistí don Chéad Fhaoistin, don Chéad Chomaoineach agus don Chóineartú gach bliain.

It is customary for us to have a School Mass three or four times a year. Parents are always welcome at these Masses.  The Sacrament of Confession is usually made available for the pupils twice a year. We value these privileges very highly and hope they will continue. Pupils are prepared for the Sacraments of First Confession, First Holy Communion and Confirmation every year.

Dráma, Rince, Ceol agus Spórt Drama, Dance, music and Sport

Bíonn lá spóirt ag an Ghaelscoil gach bliain. Bíonn deis ag gach dalta páirt ghlacadh sna himeachtaí. Bíonn fáilte roimh thuismitheoirí ag an ócáid, agus fiú páirt a ghlacadh! Glacann daltaí na scoile páirt go rialta i gcomórtais spóirt idir scoileanna.

Tá traidisiún fada láidir drámaíochta agus ceoil sa scoil agus baineann na daltaí tairbhe agus taitneamh as.

Bíonn ceachtanna rince ar fáil do na leanaí ó Rang 1 go Rang 6. Bíonn táille le híoc ar an rince.

Every child in the Gaelscoil has an opportunity to take part in our annual Sports Day. Parents are always welcome to come along to support, or even to compete! Pupils regularly take part in inter schools sporting competions.

There is a long and strong tradition of drama and music in the school which the children greatly enjoy and benefit from.

All pupils from First to Sixth Class participate in dancing lessons for a half-hour each week. There is a charge for these lessons.

LeabhairScoile School Books

·       Bítear ag súil leis go mbeidh clúdach ar gach téacsleabhar scoile chun an leabhar a chaomhnú.

Bítear ag súil leis go mbeidh ainm an dalta breactha go soiléir ar chlúdach gach leabhair.

·       Aithníonn údaráis Ghaelscoil Míde go mbíonn meáchan mór i málaí scoile na ndaltaí má iompraíonn siad gach téacsleabhar agus cóipleabhar chun na scoile agus abhaile gach lá.  Mar sin, tá cead ag daltaí leabhair a fhágáil ar scoil nuair nach mbíonn siad de dhíth chun obair bhaile a dhéanamh.

·        Má bhíonn ar dhalta scríobh ar théacsleabhar, m.sh. leabhar saothair, bíonn orthu an téacsleabhar sin a cheannach.  Sa chás nach scríobhtar ar an leabhar bíonn an leabhar sin ar fáil ar cíos íseal ón scoil.  Is mór an áis í an scéim iasachta seo agus is mór leis na tuismitheoirí é.

·         All school books should have a cover.

·         The name of the child should be on each book.

·         The school authorities recognise that school bags are quite heavy if all books and copies need to be carried. Therefore books which are not required for homework may be left in school.

·There is a school book rental scheme in place in Gaelscoil Míde. This is a very well run scheme and is appreciated by all parents as it helps to alleviate the rising cost of school books. However some books which are written into still need to be bought.

Pointí Beaga Praitiúla Basic Practical Points

Bíodh lón folláin ag do pháiste gach lá.

Níl cead brioscáin ná cnónna a thabhairt ar scoil.

Tá bainne agus torthaí ar fáil sa scoil do na  páistí gach lá. Má roghnaíonn tú deoch a thabhairt do do pháiste, déan      cinnte gur i gcartán nó i mbuidéal plaisteach atá sé. Ní cheadaítear  buidéil ghloine sa scoil.

Moltar duit ainm do linbh a chur ar gach ball éadaigh. Is iontach an méid éadaí a fhágtar ar scoil nach le “duine ar      bith” iad.

Tabhair tacaíocht, le do thoil, do na      himeachtaí a eagraítear i rith na bliana chun airgead a bhailiú don      Ghaelscoil. Is mór an méid a dhéanann na coistí éagsúla ar son na scoile,      agus tá do thacaíocht agus do dhílseacht tuillte acu.

Please provide a healthy lunch for your child each day.

Neither crisps nor nuts are allowed.

Milk and fruit are provided for the children every day at school. If you choose to give your child a drink to bring to school, please make sure it is in a carton or plastic bottle. Glass bottles are not allowed.

Please make sure that your child’s name is clearly marked on each item of clothing. Many items are left in the school belonging to the person who wrote all the famous poems: ANON!

Please support the various activities, which are organised during the year to finance the Gaelscoil. The various coistí are always very much to the fore in raising money. They also help the school in many other ways and they deserve your loyalty and support.
