Tugann an tuairisc seo achoimre ar na láidreachtaí a aithníodh agus ar na réimsí a bhfuil tús áite tugtha dóibh d’fheabhsúchán.

Summary School Self-Evaluation Report

1. Introduction

Our school has its own context.  There are 12 teachers and 236 pupils in the school.  We have a wide range of programmes operating in the school including emphasis on the Curriculum, music, dance, sport etc.Our attendance levels are excellent.  Our pupils’ behaviour is excellent For more information on how we intend to improve our pupils’ learning, please see our School Improvement Plan which is available on www.gaelscoilmide.ie

1.1  The focus of the evaluation

We undertook a school self-evaluation of teaching and learning during the year. We evaluated Mathematics as a school subject..  We chose this because we felt that our pupils could improve their learning outcomes in this area.

This report summarises the strengths that were identified and the areas that have been prioritised for improvement.

2. Summary of school self-evaluation findings

We collected information from parents, pupils and teachers in preparing this report.  We looked at how well our pupils were doing in Mathematics. We analtsed the results of Sigma-T for all pupils. Parents and pupils were asked to fill in a questionnaire. We reviewed the work of the pupils. The staff discussed the results.

2.1 We found that our school has strengths in the following areas:

Strengths

Children are very positive towards the subject.

They have the self confidence to undertake school work and homework on their own.

Parents were positive about their childrens progress. They were positive about the teaching methods in use and thta pupils were learning at a level that suited them.

2.2 We have decided to prioritise the following area for development:

Areas for development

Problem solving.

We have decided to prioritise this area because it is clear from the self-evaluation that children’s results in this area are weaker than in other areas.
