1. Réamhrá

1.1  Fócas na meastóireachta

Mar chuid d’ár n-obair leanúnach sa scoil, rinneamar féinmheastóireacht scoile ar theagasc agus ar fhoghlaim i mbliana. Rinneamar meastóireacht ar Matamaitic.  Le haghaidh tuilleadh eolais ar an gcaoi inar tharla an mheastóireacht, féach ár dTuairisc Fhéinmheastóireachta Scoile atá ar fáil ar www.gaelscoilmide.ie

Leagann an plean feabhsúcháin scoile amach na gníomhartha a dhéanfaimid sa scoil sna trí bliana seo romhainn in Matamaitic.  Is í príomhaidhm na ngníomhartha seo ná chun feabhas a chur ar fhoghlaim ár ndaltaí. 

2. Achoimre ar thorthaí na féinmheastóireachta scoile

2.1 láidreachtaí ag ár scoil sna réimsí seo a leanas:

Láidreachtaí

 

Bhí páistí báúil agus dearfach faoin ábhar.

Bhí féinmhuinín acu tabhairt faoin obair scoile agus an obair bhaile as a stuaim féin.

Bhí tuismitheoirí na scoile an dearfach faoi dul chun cinn na bpáistí san ábhar. Faoi na modhanna múinte agus go raibh na daltaí ag foghlaim ar leibhéal a oireann dóibh.

 

 

Tá sé seo ar eolas againn toisc go ndearnamar comhairliúchán le daltaí / tuismitheoirí / múinteoirí agus gur scrúdaíomar torthaí trialacha agus obair na bpáistí sa scoil. 

 

2.2 Tá sé beartaithe ag ár scoil tús áite a thabhairt don réimse forbartha seo a leanas:

Tá sé beartaithe againn tús áite a thabhairt do na réimsí seo mar tháinig se chun solais go raibh  torthaí na bpáistí sa réiteach fadhbanna níos laige na áiteanna eile.

2.3 Tá na spriocanna feabhsúcháin seo a leanas leagtha amach a bhaineann le gnóthachtáil na ndaltaí agus tá na gníomhartha seo a leanas aitheanta a chuideoidh leis na spriocanna sin a bhaint amach sna trí bliana atá romhainn.

Mar thuismitheoir, is féidir leat cuidiú linn trí fadhbanna oscailte a ardú le do pháiste. An fhadhb a phléigh leo agus bealaí réitigh a ardú leo.Níós mó béim a chur ar an an chaoi a réitítear fadhbanna seachas an bhéim a chur ar an fhreagra amháin.

 

2.4 Déanfar athbhreithniú ar ár spriocanna nuair a dhéantar iniúchadh ar thorthaí na scrúdúcháin chaighdeánaithe i Méan Fómhair 2015.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Summary school improvement plan

 

1. Introduction

 

1.1  The focus of the evaluation

As part of our ongoing work in the school, we conducted a school self-evaluation of teaching and learning this year. We evaluated Mathematics  For more information on how the evaluation took place, please see our School Self-Evaluation Report which is available www.gaelscoilmide.ie.

This school improvement plan sets out the actions that we will undertake in the school over the next three years in Mathematics. The main purpose of these actions is to improve our pupils’ learning. 

2. Summary of school self-evaluation findings

2.1 Our school has strengths in the following areas:

Strengths

Children are very positive towards the subject.

They have the self confidence to undertake school work and homework on their own.

Parents were positive about their childrens progress. They were positive about the teaching methods in use and thta pupils were learning at a level that suited them

 

 

We know this because we consulted with (pupils/ parents / teachers) and examined test results and (other information) in the school. 

2.2 Our school has decided to prioritise the following areas of development:

Problem solving.


We have decided to prioritise this area because it is clear from the self-evaluation that children’s results in this area are weaker than in other areas.

2.3 Our school has set the following targets for improvement which are related to pupils’ achievement and has identified the following actions which will help in achieving those targets over the next three years.

Targets for Improvement

Action

To raise the pupils’ standard in Problem solving.

To strengthen and improve the pupils’ self confidence in this area.

To maintain the positive attitude of the pupils.

Problem solving will be taught regularly instead of at the end of chapters.

Pupils will be encouraged to investigate problems at home and at school.

Open ended problems will be taught.

Group work will be encouraged.

Children will be encouraged to use various websites to help with problem solving e.g. www.mal.ilearn.ie.

Teachers will concentrate on how to solve  the problem and not place too much emphasis on the actual answer.

Problem solving puzzles will be used where appropriate.

 

As a parent you can help us by using open ended problems with your child stressing how to solve the problem. Discuusing the options available to solve the problem and not putting the sole emphasis on the answer.

2.4 We will assess our success in reaching our targets when we analyse the results of the Standardised Tests in September 2015.
